Uruguay will celebrate the first Baby's Day (and you don't have to buy any gifts…)

We have Children's Day, but not one dedicated to the little ones. In Uruguay, on the first Friday of October, Baby's Day will be celebrated for the first time, since a bill has just been voted on that way, for each year. But what is the meaning of this day?

We hope that it does not become a commercial date as it has happened with so many celebrations, that is not the intention. It is assumed that if the Uruguayan Senate has voted almost unanimously this decision is because we want to make known and promote all initiatives that have as their purpose the well-being of the baby and his family.

The proposal came at the initiative of an institution in Uruguay, the Association of Psychopathology and Psychiatry of Children and Adolescents. It is well known that the first years of life, early childhood, is a period of significant growth in all areas of child development.

That is why Baby Day will serve to think and evaluate the social, educational and health conditions that the State seeks for babies and promote actions aimed at generating changes in families, educational institutions, health care.

I think the news is excellent First Baby Day in Uruguay (and throughout the world, that we know), because it is a way to make them visible to a society that often denies them, their cries, prohibits them from entering certain places, saves on health ...

Also because it takes into account pregnant women and everything that has to do with the mother-child relationship and what makes it easier for the child to develop all their cognitive, motor, social and emotional potential. Consider babies as complex people, with specific needs, such as those of families.

And that all this translates into your well-being. Not in gifts. We do not want shopping centers to appropriate this date. May Baby Day serve for much more, for real changes and real help for babies and their families.
