Current parents spend three times more time with their children, compared to previous generations

For some time now, we have been talking about how the participation of parents in the upbringing of their children has evolved, becoming a teamwork. The changes are notorious, seeing that every day there are more parents who exercise active parenthood and even require them to be considered more important.

So great has been the evolution of paternity in recent decades, that according to recent research, Current parents spend three times more time with their children, compared to previous generations.

This was one of the conclusions reached in Pew Research Centerafter analyze the results of various studies and surveys carried out over the years about family life and fatherhood in the United States and that was published on their website.

Some figures are not as surprising or notorious, while others may seem impressive, especially for the current generation, since we are already accustomed to seeing active parents in raising their children.

In Babies and more Modern parents: this is how men feel about fatherhood today

For example, we can find that in 2016 parents reported spending an average of eight hours a week taking care of their children, triple the time parents spent 50 years ago in 1965, when it was still considered that raising children was only the mother's business.

Other results show how parents are now even changing their lifestyle, since In 2016, 17% of parents stay at home taking care of their children, compared to 10% in 1989. Of the total number of parents staying at home, 24% explained that the only reason they had decided to do so was to be able to take care of their children.

This analysis is not the only one that shows how paternity has become more active over the decades, since in another research conducted in England, it was found that in 1982 43% of parents had never changed a diaper, while in the year 2000, only 3% had never done so.

The parents claim their place

These results show us how effectively dads have begun to take ground and claim their place in fatherhood, even some of them fighting that obsolete stereotype that parents don't know how to raise or care for their children and demanding that they stop being told "babysitters" when they take care of their children.

In recent years for example, we have seen some parents go to social networks to clarify that they are capable of taking care of their children, as well as to denounce other aspects in which parents are not considered, such as the absence of changers in male toilets.

And it is that in addition to starting to get more involved thanks to the changes that have been going on in society over time, science also supports and motivates parents to become more involved in their children's livesWell, as we have seen in various studies, their participation is full of benefits for children.

So the results of these investigations are very positive and encouraging, as parents spend time with their children not only strengthen the bond with them, but also, little by little they are changing the world and transforming the new generations.
